When Compliance That Makes Sense Helpline is Right for Your FinTech

Published by Yana on

So the doors to Compliance That Makes Sense Helpline are now open and we are accepting new participants. In January 2021, we will celebrate 2-year anniversary (can you imagine that!!!) and there are some clients who are still with us to date!

Here is how you know if Compliance Helpline can actually help you:

  • Your FinTech is not able to launch new products, features, or partnerships as quickly as you’d like because compliance reviews and assessments take longer and longer.
  • In fact, you have at least 3 or more new product ideas awaiting a conclusion, and you have not been able to decide if they are viable or not from a regulatory standpoint.
  • Your relationships with internal and external auditors are very contagious and borderline toxic, and you spend disproportionate resources on audit remediations or on fixing documentation instead of assessing new opportunities.
  • Your ongoing license application has not moved in a few months, and you still don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel.
  • Your compliance team got additional resources, tools, or headcount in the last 12 months, and it still does not feel enough to make progress and do everything you are expected to do.
  • Your onboarding flow is broken and barely converts, you lose a lot of customers at every step, your AML, fraud, or compliance checks are not scalable and you see no other option but to hire more compliance people because manual reviews require more and more of your time.
  • You see that your competition or other industry players are able to launch new projects and offer new features, and you wonder, how they actually do it and whether you can do the same.

I also wanted to share something with you:

  • An average license application cycle for a FinTech startup takes about 12-18 months
  • An average banking partnership takes about 2 years to go live
  • An average CCO or a Head of Compliance in FinTech stays about a year in their role and then quits

Do you think it’s a coincidence? – No! – FinTech compliance is tough and could be super frustrating.

At the same time, my clients are able to continue to make progress no matter what and build better relationships with their stakeholders, auditors, and regulators.

Do you want to know the secret? – I have helped them re-shape their perspectives around compliance and compliance project implementation based on the principles of Agile Compliance I present as a part of the Compliance That Makes Sense method, I see the results and the progress they make and it feels great.

As you can see – I’m not an average compliance person – and I do many things that rarely any compliance expert does.

Yes – you read that correctly: using the strategies and successful arguments and case studies from the past experience, I was able not only to save time to market for my clients and overcome a lot of complexities but also we all are able to work less – when we focus on the right things in the right order.

Imagine, what life could look like with:

  • Better collaboration between business and compliance and fewer compliance meetings
  • Greater certainty about what needs to be done and in which order
  • Shorter due diligence review cycles with partners and auditors
  • More productive and efficient compliance team and more time to hire and train your team, network, learn, or research
  • … and ultimately – more projects accomplished, more respect, and appreciation for the hard work you do every day.

I don’t have a “big secret” to FinTech Compliance. I just spent years trying different strategies and observing what works better, so now I can share my experience and learnings with you!

But, I get the feeling you have “Yeah, maybe…. I just don’t have the time to follow another training right now. I can figure things out on my own, especially when I have more time… “ – right?

Trust me – this program is not time-consuming, it is designed to give you your time back: you don’t have to watch all the lectures or follow any specific curriculum, and obviously there is no homework.

You just come to the Helpline with your “situation”, we will assess the strategy and options you have, and then I will tell you which templates to use and send back to your partners, auditors or regulators.

Sometimes you won’t have questions, but others ask about something you will need to know tomorrow, so you will have is a peace of mind knowing that you have access to someone who has been in the same trenches, and gone just a little bit before you.

But don’t just take my word for it, listen to what other program members, my 1:1 clients, some regulators and Board Members of my clients have said:

  • “Yana is the most unusual compliance expert I’ve known, smart, fast, does not waste my time, just says what needs to happen in order to achieve our goals. She saved us a lot of time and eliminated much confusion.”
  • “This is the best money ever spent – saved me weeks of time and the templates are gold.”
  • “Yana is hugely successful in what she does because she has incredible energy and passion for startups and she combines it with impressive memory and attention to detail. She is able to quote regulations on the spot and she remembers which section of which policy speaks about the issue, even when it was written over a year ago. It would have taken me weeks of research, and she just knows the answer.”
  • “Once I asked Yana what to do about a certain high-risk scenario, and at the time we had an idea what to do. She said that our original idea was not going to produce convincing results and suggested another plan. We did not listen to her in the beginning, but in a few weeks, we saw she was right, and we reversed our original decision.”
  • “I’m always grateful to learn from Yana because she presents the compliance concepts in a very practical way and connects the dots for me. I see the bigger picture when she explains why one option is better than the other. Things just get clearer after her explanations and I know exactly what to do next.”
  • “Any company would be lucky to engage Yana and any regulatory authority can count on her diligence and skills to satisfy the complex governance and control requirements of the financial services industry.”

The reality is – FinTech compliance can be simple, fast, and enabling the business, it’s all possible, and it’s waiting for you inside the Compliance Helpline.
