How to Become Friends With Messenger Bots?

Published by Yana on

Yes, you heard it right - I was suspicious of bots, and then I changed my mind: today messenger bots are my best friends forever.

I'm happy to tell you about it, because I found bots to be super helpful and fun to work with - especially where it comes to startups.

I heard anecdotally that chatbots were super helpful these days, especially with Q&A and support sections on websites, but I still thought:
  • bots were intrusive and annoying,
  • they would be hard to implement,
  • nobody would use them.
Then I had a bad day, when many things did not go as planned, and I needed at least some small "win", something "done" ✅ and accomplished during that day. "Try a messenger bot" had been on my to-do list for a few months, so there was no excuses left.

I setup my first messenger bot in 10 minutes using Manychat free services - and I just love it!!!! Seriously - everyone should have one, and here are my  suggested use cases:
  • You can segment and survey your audience by asking them to click on certain features or options - this is exactly what I did on the https://holeinthewhole.com/ podcast website, and it took me 10 minutes, while on a boring but necessary conference call. It's way more intuitive than re-directing visitors to survey pages.
  • When you have some kind of waitlist or new product release or promotion coming up, people are super happy to be reminded about this event in the future via messenger notification. It's a one-time reminder, and people are actually grateful for this feature and use it a lot. For example - I set it up on my program waitlist. Implementation time - 5 minutes.
  • You should definitely setup messenger bots on all sales or product pages, if you feel your audience will likely have questions before they purchase.
  • You could have a lot of fun on any boring conference call from now on, because you can be playing with your bots by setting up customized messages, greetings, thank you responses, and so on 😉
